History

Analogue camera systems is where it all started in 1942 by German engineer for monitoring the launch of the V-2 rockets during World War 2.

In 1949, the first commercially available CCTV systems were manufactured by the American company Vericon, a U.S. contractor that sold the technology for basic live monitoring applications.

In 1953, CCTV systems were used in the United Kingdom during the crowning of Queen Elizabeth II. Cameras also began to appear at street locations throughout London during this time and continued to be used for safety and security reasons at events where Royal Family members would appear. Around this same time period, CCTV was installed for security monitoring along some New York City streets.

In 1969, Marie Van Brittan Brown was awarded a patent for the first home security system in Queens, New York. The system she and her husband invented allowed a home owner to use CCTV to view a person at the door and hear the person’s voice from another room in the home. This system is considered the predecessor to modern home security systems.

Analogue CCTV

Today this Analogue surveillance and security systems have evolved into High Definition systems with networking features and remote viewing over the internet to control rooms or mobiles. Equipped with Infrared technologies it can monitor at night or in dark rooms. The price tags is less expensive than the Digital Network based surveillance systems, but is easier to install with plug and play and easy setup.

IP CCTV

While the world evolved into a modern and advanced technological era, so did CCTV evolved to Digital Network based systems with much more capabilities and features.

This Digital Network based systems provide overall higher video quality than analogue systems and with excellent video quality it makes them much better for facial recognition and detecting license plate numbers and many more finer details. Digital cameras have much higher resolutions than analogue cameras which provide more crisper footage to capture more important details.

IP Systems is unfortunately more expensive, but there is so much more to it to make up for that price gap which some of the reasons include:

Much better resolution and video quality

Network Storage can be implemented

Easy expandable over a network infrastructure

Not limited to coverage when implementing wireless networks

Multiple sites can be integrated locally or remotely over the internet
